Stamford Downtown is the regional destination for arts and entertainment. The Downtown is the home of The Stamford Center for the Arts.

The Palace Theatre, renovated, originally opened its doors in 1937 as a vaudeville house. Headliners such as Roberta Flack, Foreigner, Willie Nelson, Kathy Griffin, and major off-Broadway musicals like STOMP and Rocky Horror Picture Show play to sold out houses. The Stamford Symphony and the Connecticut Grand Opera also call The Palace their home.

If movies are your thing, Stamford Downtown features two 1st run movie houses, Bow Tie Cinemas Majestic 6 and Landmark 9, with 15 screens between them. The newly renovated Avon Theatre Film Center is an “art cinema” featuring the best in independent and art nouveau films on 2 screens.

Stamford Downtown is the producer of several signature outdoor events which are all free to the public. They include the critically acclaimed “Alive at Five” summer concert series and The UBS Parade Spectacular, one of the largest helium balloons parades in the country.
